Des Moines Community Colleges officers will talk to the school board Tuesday for additional dollars to go over the costs for its new virtual elementary university curriculum a greater selection of college students enrolled.

The Des Moines university district contracted with Edgenuity, an online curriculum organization, for its kindergarten by means of fifth-quality college students in August when conditions of COVID-19 started off to increase and family members started asking for options to in-human being school.

At the time, the board permitted spending $495,000 of federal COVID-19 money on the program. The agreement included 300 students. Officials are now asking to invest an additional $290,000 — for a overall of  $785,000 — to address a whole of 550 students.

There are 517 students taking part in the self-led understanding software, a fraction of the believed 13,000 elementary faculty learners in the district.
