A father-of-3 has been identified guilty of murdering his spouse at their home in east London.
Muhammad Ilyas, 41, killed Maria Rafael Chavex, 32, at their residence on Kingston Road in Ilford on May 13, 2021.
Police rushed to the home subsequent fears about her welfare but Ms Chavex was identified unresponsive and afterwards died at the scene.
Detective Main Inspector Laurence Smith, from the Specialist Criminal offense Command, said: “Ilyas has not offered any clarification about the conditions that led to his wife’s demise and has refused to accept duty for her murder.
“This is a tragic situation that has still left a few young children devoid of their parents and I’m confident what they’ve been via will continue to be with them for the rest of their lives. My feelings are with them and the relaxation of Maria’s relatives and pals.”
An first investigation observed Maria hadn’t suffered any obvious injuries and there ended up no indications of a disturbance.
Officers arranged for a distinctive publish-mortem examination to build how she died. The examination uncovered Maria experienced suffered compression to her neck, probably to have been as a consequence of becoming strangled.
Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Criminal offense Command carried out even more enquiries, which involved collecting CCTV evidence and talking to neighbours.
This data, together with the pathologist’s findings, assisted officers create that Ilyas experienced killed Maria through the afternoon of May perhaps 13, 2021 when the couple’s 3 little ones had been at university.
Ilyas was arrested and interviewed about his involvement in Maria’s loss of life. He denied killing Maria and explained to officers he believed she experienced died from natural leads to.

Ilyas will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on Friday, July 1.
