Hickman's David Polacek walks during the final round of the Class 5 boys state golf championship Tuesday at Sedalia Country Club in Sedalia.

SEDALIA — Just after the coronavirus pandemic wiped out the 2020 higher faculty boys golfing year, Hickman mentor Aaron Heath experienced a choice to make relating to his team’s personnel.

“We resolved to retain all the boys to test to fill groups. We experienced 20, which was a quite massive number for boys golf in large university,” Heath said. “We worked on it and we were capable to get the boys up right here. I’m tremendous proud of the boys this yr. It all sort of came collectively.”

“Up here” was the Course 5 event, which concluded Tuesday at Sedalia Place Club, where the Kewpies compiled a two-day total of 613 to complete in a tie with Marquette for fifth spot, just 23 strokes at the rear of champion Chaminade.

“It was a seriously major offer mainly because even some of the greatest teams in the state failed to get to arrive as a crew,” Hickman junior Joe Devoy mentioned. “I assume it was a major accomplishment that we acquired to arrive as a group no subject what took place.”
