JENISON, MI — The Rockford High School Rams battled the Grand Haven Buccaneers into extra innings for the Division 1 high school softball regional semifinal at Jenison High School on Saturday, June 11.
Rockford center fielder Peyton Steffes scored the team’s first run in the first inning, and Grand Haven center fielder Skyler Covelli tied up the game with a run in the third. The game remained tied until the ninth inning when the Rams scored two unanswered runs, the first by Mary Macintire, followed by a solo home run hit by right fielder Gracyn Card.
Rockford beat Grand Haven with a score of 3-1 after nine innings and went on to face Hudsonville in the championship game later in the day. Hudsonville beat Rockford 4-1 in the regional championship game.
